Never knew surgery had links to gold digging. I guess the team of surgeons who opened up the stomach of a 63 year old patient complaining of abdominal pain didn’t know too. I can’t imagine their astonishment after they pulled out a fortune from his stomach… 12 gold bars each weighing 33 grams!!!
The patient claimed to have accidentally swallowed the cap of a plastic bottle. X-rays showed his intestines were blocked, requiring surgery. Surgery was conducted in which stunned doctors headed pulled out the yellow metals from his stomach.
According to one of the surgeons, Consultant or Chief Surgeon Ramachandran, “it was totally unexpected!”
The patient who was trying to smuggle the gold into the country has been discharged after surgery, and is doing fine.
The gold bars were handed over to the police and later sent to customs to probe the case.
In which you’re wondering where this happened, it’s not Nigeria. If it were, those doctors would’ve been made for life! (No time! Return to police keh?). The stunning event unfolded in New Delhi, India.
