LATEST UPDATES FROM MEDILAG LUTH IDI ARABA FOR INCOMING YEAR TWO STUDENTS

This week again, we bring to you as usual the Latest Information from Idi Araba LUTH especially for the incoming Year 2 students. All the updates about resumption, registration, hostel and accommodation, tutorials and so on. Read on!

Professionals and Diploma First Semester Exams: Firstly, let’s wish both the pre clinical students (outgoing Part 1 and 2) and the diploma pre medical students all the very best in their exams starting today. The BDS (dentistry) students  started their pros last week and should be rounding up by now. MBBS are to start theirs today and end probably on the 16th (according to some of them). After which they are likely to leave for us to come in.
The diploma exams would last less than two weeks long and is computer based, like previous year. Happy Clicking.

Resumptions And Lectures: 2nd year Paramedics resumed officially last week and it was business as usual as lectures and classes held accordingly. The outlines and schedule for the different courses were released, even exam timetable for pharmacy students (na so!).

Students in biological sciences in Akoka also came around and would be coming around (Monday mornings) for biochemistry classes. Some ‘school-sick’ MBBS and BDS students also gate crashed on the lectures (guilty, no knowledge is a waste).

There still is no concrete date of resumption for MBBS and BDS, but an Anatomy lecturer was reported to have hinted 21st April (some say 14th) as the possible date. We sincerely hope it doesn’t extend beyond that.

COMPSSA orientation: It seems like the College of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Science Students Association, Medilag, LUTH, the student union body in CMUL would be organizing an orientation program for the incoming students.
I first got a wind of this from the University Of Lagos Association Of Physiotherapy Students (ULAPS) president, Mr. Taiwo when I met him sometime last month at Akoka. It was confirmed when COMPSSA reps reportedly announced it to the Paramedics. However, the date is still brewing. Looking forward to it tho.

Hostel and Accommodation: Still no show from this end. I was at the Students’ Affairs Office again last week to inquire about accommodation. Again, I was told it was not ready yet, and reassured by the same woman (she’s nice tho) that it will out ‘very soon’. The same ‘very soon’ I got last week. The same ‘very soon’ we get all the time (resumption, AMSUL tutorials, pros etc.). It seems things at CMUL are done emergency-ly; very soon till it’s too soon. Anyway, we’re waiting, abi?

Meanwhile, a very good friend in part 2 medicine says we should forget about getting hostel in two months time, as it took him over two months after applying to get one. I doubt this though, and another good friend, a girl in pharmacy year 3 contradicts it.

AMSUL Tutorials: Finally!!! *in Dbanj’s voice 😎. Yeah, finally, the AMSUL Tutorial has started and takes place on Wednesday’s and Friday’s in front of AMSUL secretariat, that Old Great Hall lawn precisely. The time is 11am-1pm. It’s two weeks to our possible resumption so I guess the tutorials would hold four times before then. Very smart, one for each in-course (hehehe 😁).
